Don Syme is a Senior Researcher at Microsoft Research in Cambridge and is the creator of the F# programming language. Don is one of the keynote speakers at Eclipse Summit Europe 2009 and will give a talk titled Taking Functional Programming into the Mainstream.

In this podcast, Ian Skerrett from the Eclipse Foundation interviews Don about his work in functional programming. Don explains why functional programming is important, what people are doing with F# and other languages currently, and whether functional programming languages need new types of tooling.
