Automotive Symposium at Eclipse Summit Europe - Part 3

Wolfgang Neuhaus (itemis)

Abstract:

The development of embedded software in the automotive domain requires dealing with an increasing number of artifacts like requirements, analysis and design models, validation rules, configuration and calibration parameters or code, and increasing complexity managing the entire car lifecycle. Eclipse open source technology is providing unprecedented opportunities for building and integrating development tools for the automotive domain. Eclipse Modeling, JDT, CDT, DSDP and OSEE deliver excellent starting points and solutions. A steadily increasing number of commercial tool vendors offer Eclipse-based tools, such as AUTOSAR tool providers and Embedded Operating Systems vendors who offer Eclipse based Workbenches & IDEs. Other open source projects relevant to the automotive domain like TOPCASED are also based on Eclipse.

The purpose of the Automotive Symposium at Eclipse Summit Europe 2008 in Ludwigsburg Germany was to explore present or future applications of the Eclipse platform in the automotive industry, research and education.
