The Eclipse Test & Performance Tools Platform (TPTP) project provides a flexible and extensible framework and tooling for profiling and testing applications. The profiling tooling can be used to profile Eclipse plug-ins, local Java applications or complex web applications running on multiple hosts and different platforms. The testing tooling can be used to record, create and manage tests, deployments, datapools, execution histories and reports with extensions for JUnit testing of Java applications. This webinar demonstrates how to use the profiling tooling to profile a Java application for identifying execution related hot spots.
The webinar shows how to start the profiling session, use the various TPTP views to analyze the data, identify methods with high execution time and then jump to the source code to fix the performance problem. This webinar also demonstrates how to use the API Recorder to record method invocations of a Java application to generate a JUnit test. It shows how to create an API recording, edit the generated test, increase test coverage with datapools, execute the test and report the test results.
