		<title>POSTPONED Maven: A brief history, introduction and roadmap</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1048</link>
		<description>

  Jason van Zyl

	Abstract:

	  PLEASE NOTE: For personal reasons this webinar has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Maven has been around for almost ten years, but much of its early history is unknown and it&#039;s actually interesting. This talk will start with a brief history of how the Maven project started, what the initial goals of the project were, and the problems we were trying to solve. We&#039;ll then move into an introduction of the major sub-systems of Maven and how they have evolved over ten years, the ecosystem that has been created and we&#039;ll follow that up with a roadmap for the Maven project and discuss what Maven will look like a year from now.

		<title>Making ALM Work Across Multi-Vendor and Open Source Solutions With OSLC</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1082</link>
		<description>

  Robert Elves, co-founder of Tasktop Technologies, Eclipse Mylyn Committer, and a member of the OSLC Specification Committee

	Abstract:

	  For most medium and large organizations the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) stack has become so diverse and disconnected that the traceability and cross-stakeholder collaboration limitations have become a substantial bottleneck for software delivery. OSLC (Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration – see http://open-services.net ) aims to alleviate this by providing open specifications for diverse systems to communicate and support integrated scenarios. While a growing number of systems implement the specification, it will take more time for OSLC to be widely supported by all leading ALM solution vendors. But there is no need to wait for increased OSLC adoption. Join this webinar to learn how Tasktop is harnessing the thriving open Eclipse Mylyn community of ALM integrations to realize the OSLC value proposition by providing broad multi-vendor OSLC support today.

Speaker Bio:

Robert Elves is co-founder of Tasktop Technologies where he is leading delivery of OSLC-enabled integration technologies. Robert has served on the OSLC specification committee since its inception and participates in the OSLC CM, Automation, and Core working groups. In the Eclipse community, Robert is a committer on the Mylyn ALM integration framework as well as the Lyo project, which is focused on providing an SDK to enable adoption of OSLC specifications. At Tasktop, Robert leverages OSLC to improve communication, traceability and reporting across heterogeneous software development solutions including IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Rational ClearQuest, HP Quality Center, Microsoft TFS, and many others.

		<title>Leveraging Eclipse 4 API to Build Components for the Future</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1061</link>
		<description>

  Eric Moffat

	Abstract:

	  When Eclipse 4.2 ships we&#039;ll be API compatible with the previous versions of eclipse but so what? Given the effort we&#039;ve put into this if all that Eclipse 4 offered was a re-write of the existing presentation and some CSS then the answer would indeed be &#039;so what&#039;. However, that is most certainly not the case, Eclipse 4 has a completely new paradigm underlying the compatibility layer. Based on a combination of a Modelled UI and Dependency Injection (DI) this new core API can be used to take the eclipse user experience to places we were never able to go in 3.x, both in the eclipse platform as well as for the components that adopt the new API.

Git, Gerrit and Hudson are being increasingly adopted. While these tools enable exciting improvements for developers, learning how to push, pull and fetch can be daunting. <span class="field-item">Tasktop's CEO, Mik Kersten, gave the following presentation during <strong>JAX2011</strong> Conference in Germany: "Task-Focused Continuous Integration: Bringing code to Cloud and back again" - <strong>now available on video</strong>.

<p>
The deployment destination for enterprise applications is going through its biggest transition since the creation of Java. Cloud infrastructure is changing the game for both application deployment and lifecycle management. Over the past decade, open source technologies such as Spring and Tomcat have defined how we build and run enterprise Java applications. Recent developments in open source collaboration Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools are now transforming how we evolve and manage those applications.</p>
<p>
This talk discussed connecting enterprise Java stack with cloud deployment via a task-focused continuous integration loop. The SCM, code review, and Agile ALM technologies, based on the Eclipse Mylyn ALM interoperability platform, were used to demonstrate how to achieve this new level of connectivity and automation between the team and the application. The talk concluded with a roadmap of how we can apply these new lessons to define the next decade of enterprise Java productivity. </p></span><br/>

		<title>Functional Testing with Eclipse Jubula</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1031</link>
		<description>

  Alexandra Imrie

	Abstract:

	  Jubula provides automated functional GUI testing for Java and HTML
applications. The project is aimed at functional testers who want to
automate their black-box tests for SWT/RCP, GEF and Swing applications.
The keyword-driven approach lets testers design, automate and maintain
tests by dragging and dropping from a library of test actions. Test
creation is quick and code-free, tests are easy to read, and the modular
structure makes them easy to maintain, despite changes in an
application&#039;s GUI.

Watch this webinar to learn about functional test automation for Eclipse
applications using Jubula and to ask questions about the project.

		<title>Implementing Modern Business Applications with Eclipse Scout</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1020</link>
		<description>

  Matthias Zimmermann (BSI), Andreas Hoegger (BSI)

	Abstract:

	  Eclipse Scout is a framework to implement modern business applications. It substantially reduces development time for both client and server software in a service oriented environment. The Scout framework includes an application model, a reference implementation, proven development functions and strong tooling support.

Join the Scout team for an overview of the project, the development of a small demo application, Scout key concept (e.g. separation of UI and GUI in Scout to support SWT, Swing and web front ends), and an outlook to current ideas regarding Scout on Eclipse 4.

Total running time is 39:49

Thanks to Adobe for contributing their Adobe Acrobat Connect product to host this webinar.
