The Eclipse Foundation, with help from EclipseSource, held an Eclipse DemoCamp in Ottawa, Canada to celebrate the Galileo release. Four demos were recorded:

• Fleet Management with Eclipse RT Technology - Jeff McAffer, EclipseSource
• Crank Storyboard - Something Cool with Embedded Graphics in Eclipse - Jason Clarke, Crank Software
• Something Cool with Eclipse CDT and Android - Doug Schaefer, Wind River
• EclipseLink and Dali integration in Eclipse Galileo - Tom Ware, Oracle

SAP hosted an Eclipse DemoCamp in Walldorf, Germany to celebrate the Galileo release. There were 200 attendees and the demos were recorded in 2 parts. This is part 1.

The Eclipse DemoCamp started with a short welcome speech by Hervé Couturier who is the EVP heading Technology Development at SAP. In his speech he underlines the importance of Eclipse and open source in the context of SAP's product strategy.

Following Hervé Couturier from SAP, Ralph Müller the representative for Europe from the Eclipse Foundation also did a short welcome speech.

Video 3 - Memory Analyzer & Rap - Single Sourcing in Practice (running time 24:43 minutes)
The first live demo then was delivered by Benjamin Muskalla from EclipseSource and Krum Tsvetkov from SAP. First, Krum demonstrated the power of the Eclipse Memory Analyzer Tool (MAT) and then Benjamin showed a web version of the memory analyzer built using the Eclipse Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) technology.

With the release of RAP (Rich AJAX Platform) from Eclipse and GWT (Google Widget Toolkit) from Google, it’s easier than ever before to build AJAX applications using the strong typed Java language instead of the less-sophisticated JavaScript. Which technology is more suited to your needs? Dan Rubel and Mark Russell will review the same application implemented once using GWT and a second time using RAP to compare and contrast the two technologies, so that architects and developers can make informed decisions about which Java-based AJAX technology best suits their situation. Can I really make my RCP application work in a browser? The Rich Ajax Platform (RAP) was designed to bridge the gap between desktop- and web-development. To achieve this, RAP reuses the RCP development model integrating the largest possible subset of the RCP-APIs.

Fully compliant with Eclipse standards, the new PHP Development Tools (PDT) 2.0 release enables developers to leverage a wide variety of Eclipse projects, such as Web Tools Project (WTP) and Dynamic Language Toolkit (DLTK), for faster and easier PHP development. PDT is an open source development tool that provides all the code editing capabilities needed to get started with developing PHP applications.

The Rich AJAX Platform (RAP) team is currently working on a project to make a RAP application more "webbish", in a web2.0 manner. This video shows the current status. A new feature is changing layouts (StackPresentations) on the fly without reloading the application. Another nice feature is the personalized Action Toolbar. Like other Web2.0 Services, RAP is now personalizable by the user.
