		<title>How Mylyn Changes the Way I Develop</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/552</link>
		<description>

  Bjorn Freeman-Benson (Eclipse Foundation)

	Abstract:

	  Mylyn is an Eclipse project that gives tasks first-class status in the developer workspace. In this presentation Bjorn will show how task focused programming simplifies his (developer) life. Mylyn makes it easier for him to maintain focus while switching between tasks and to collaborate on tasks with geographically and time-zone disparate developers. Fair warning though: once you&#039;ve started using Mylyn, you never want to return to the old ways.

This presentation was recorded at Eclipse Day at the Googleplex on June 24, 2008.

About Bjorn Freeman-Benson:
Bjorn is the Director for Committer Community at the Eclipse Foundation, a position that is tailor-made for someone with his keen interest and experience in building high-quality software with geographically distributed teams. He has dabbled in applications and user interfaces, but returns, like the swallows to San Juan Capistrano, to his three foci: hardware, software and process (embedded devices, programming languages and software engineering). Bjorn has worked for OTI, Amazon.com, Rational and Gemstone, along with a career as a university professor. He has an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Washington, and is happy to talk at length about his passion for orienteering and/or his love of flying.

		<title>Memory Analysis Best Practices Within Eclipse</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/549</link>
		<description>

  Steven Haines (Geekcap, Inc.), Ian Skerret (Eclipse Foundation)

	Abstract:

	  The performance of many enterprise Java applications can typically be poor, forcing affected companies to pay the high price of lost sales and tarnished reputations. Fortunately, proactive attention to the performance of an application while it is being developed can eliminate most performance issues before your customers ever see them.

Join Ian Skerret, Director of Marketing, Eclipse Foundation and Java Expert Steven Haines, CEO/Founder of GeekCap, Inc., as they present an overview of the Eclipse ecosystem and a strategy for identifying memory leaks in Java applications from the comfort of your Eclipse Java Integrated Development Environment (IDE). You will learn:

How the Java garbage collector works
The nature of memory leaks and how to avoid them
How to configure the automated analysis of unit test case memory usage inside Eclipse
How to regularly generate memory profiles in a repeatable fashion

Total running time will be approximately 1 hour

		<title>Introduction to Scala Developer Tools (SDT)</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/513</link>
		<description>

  Daniel Spiewak

	Abstract:

	  Developers from LAMP created a second Eclipse plugin that offers support for Scala development, entitled the Scala Developer Tools (SDT). This plugin is a first attempt to build a high quality IDE for Scala on top of Eclipse. Daniel Spiewak created a short screencast to illustrate some of the highlights of the plugin&#039;s new editor. No attempt was made to hide the bugs which cropped up during testing, so the screencast should give a fair approximation of the current state of the plugin and whether it’s worth trying for your own projects.

		<title>Visual Rules 4.0 Launch 2008 - Get Ready for Business</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/495</link>
		<description>

  Volker Grossmann (Visual Rules), Ian Skerrett (Eclipse Foundation)

	Abstract:

	  Ian will describe the strength of the Eclipse market and the integration concept - and why the Eclipse concept is so succesful.

Volker will describe how Innovations uses the Eclipse concept for integrating Business Rules Management (BRM).

Business Rules Management allows organizations to manage their business decisions in a way that domain experts are able to control. Close collaboration of business and IT in defining, testing and managing the business rules delivers an increase in efficiency and decrease in terms of time-to-market.

The Visual Rules Eclipse plug-in allows the management of business rules with a unique graphical modeling approach. The Eclipse plug-in concept enables users and service companies to easily integrate Visual Rules into their development environment and into RCP-based solutions. Visual Rules is as well easy to use for business as it is powerful for IT.

Visual Rules 4.0 is launched on April 15, 2008. Version 4 provides new rule management concepts and major new features and functions - supporting advanced collaboration of business and IT. Participants of the webcast will get to see the news in a live demo of the product.

This tutorial walks through an introduction of reporting through MyEclipse and shows how to create your first report. It shows creating a reporting project, and adding data sources, parameters, images, charts and tables. It also shows how to create a nested subreport, calculated fields, and how to deploy the reports as a MyEclipse server application.

The video has an indexed table of contents.
