EclipseCon 2013 was a great success with lots of announcements and exciting new projects. If you could not got there or you didn&#039;t success to fork yourself to see every talks, this webinar will help you to have an overview of the event and the upcoming technologies for Eclipse Kepler. As lots of materials on EclipseCon are already available in English and in a view to increase their visibility to the french community, this webinar will be in French.

		<title>Getting Started with MQTT</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1169</link>
		<description>

  Ian Craggs (IBM) and David Locke (IBM)

	Abstract:

	  MQTT is a connectivity protocol designed for M2M. It is an extremely lightweight publish/subscribe messaging transport that is ideal for connecting small devices connected on networks with minimal bandwidth. The Eclipse Paho project is the reference implementation for the MQTT protocol. This webinar will introduce developers to MQTT and then show how you can develop your very first MQTT based application using Paho and the Eclipse IDE.

		<title>Developing with Lua </title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1174</link>
		<description>

  Benjamin Cabe

	Abstract:

	  Lua is a fast, lightweight, embeddable scripting language. Very popular in the gaming industry, Lua is also being used to make smart connections between devices. The Eclipse Koneki project is building Lua development tools to make it easy to develop, debug and deploy M2M applications. This webinar will provide a brief introduction to Lua and then demonstrate how Eclipse and Koneki can be used to build great M2M applications.

		<title>Reminder - Sphinx: An Industrial Strength Tool Platform Fostering Model-driven Development of Embedded Systems </title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/1008</link>
		<description>

  Stephan Eberle (See4sys)

	Abstract:

	  It is a known fact that embedded system complexity doesn&#039;t stop increasing and model-driven software development turns more and more out to be an adequate approach to keeping this complexity under control. But it is still a major hassle to provide corresponding integrated tool environments which are sufficiently domain-oriented, scalable and robust. Eclipse as an open and extensible tool platform is a very good starting point but not a solution per se. The Eclipse Modeling Project provides many of the additionally required building blocks but is very fragmented and not up to the point where it could provide the level of tool support embedded system designers expect.

The recently created Sphinx project is meant to significantly improve this situation. It will be seeded with code from Artop – a platform for creating modeling tools supporting the AUTOSAR standard which has already been deployed at several larger automotive companies. Complementary building blocks will come from the Papyrus project. Sphinx will provide a modeling tool platform enabling IDE-like tool support for specific modeling languages to be developed at reasonable effort and cost. It will leverage and foster the industrial strength known from Artop and head towards a domain- and vendor-independent interoperability layer (backbone) for modeling tools of any kind.

Total running time will be approximately 1 hour

8:00 am PST / 11:00 am EST / 4:00 pm UTC / 5:00 pm CET - Convert to other time zones

		<title>Sphinx: An Industrial Strength Tool Platform Fostering Model-driven Development of Embedded Systems </title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/993</link>
		<description>

Total running time 1 hour, 2:38 minutes

Thanks to Adobe for contributing their Adobe Acrobat Connect product to host this webinar.

		<title>Eclipse Embedded Day 2009 Video - Distributed Embedded Systems with Ambicomp</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/868</link>
		<description>

  Johannes Eickhold (TU München, Karlsruhe)

	Abstract:

	  The Ambicomp research project develops hardware modules and a transparently distributed virtual machine for embedded systems. The current hardware portfolio contains Bluetooth, Ethernet and Power-over-Ethernet modules, as well as various IO modules. An 8bit microcontroller on each module executes a virtual machine instance. An Eclipse-Plugin and a module emulator provide easy access to the virtual machine and the hardware features.

Ambicomp&#039;s main goal is to provide a single system image across a potentially large, distributed set of hardware modules. To this end, it employs latest research results from distributed computing: scalable source routing, globally accessible objects, and software transactional memory. As a result, Ambicomp provides an easy means for rapid prototyping and thereby supports small and medium sized companies to achieve a quick time to market.

Ambicomp does not address a particular target market. Promising prototypes are building automation, process automation, and ambient assisted living. The Ambicomp project is funded by the BMBF. Ambicomp partners are always interested in collaborations that can establish further use cases for this technology.

		<title>Hot Tips and Tricks for the Eclipse IDE</title>
		<link>http://live.eclipse.org/node/850</link>
		<description>

  Andy Gryc (QNX Software Systems)

	Abstract:

	  The Eclipse IDE is arguably the most popular embedded integrated development environment on the planet and may already be part of your tool chain. If you’re not using it to its fullest potential, you’re not alone. So many features are packed into this IDE that cranking out high-quality C/C++ code using the fewest keystrokes can take years to master.

Take one hour out of your busy day and learn over two dozen shortcuts gathered from developers who bathe in the Eclipse IDE on a daily basis. Discover time-saving features like:

auto code formatting
code folding
advanced search techniques
automatic refactoring of code
call hierarchy navigation
helpful keyboard short cuts
useful plug-ins
at-a-glance file comparison

Who Should Attend? Embedded software developers, managers, architects, and engineers.

Duration: 1 hour, including Q &amp; A.

Registration: To view the on-demand broadcast, registration is required.
